The Chicago travel restriction list includes Chicago hotels, restaurants, retailers and transit stations, and it covers Chicago and suburban Chicago areas.
Chicago officials are warning people against traveling to other states.
The list also includes a travel advisory issued Wednesday from the Department of Homeland Security, warning that Chicago and surrounding areas are on high alert for the possibility of a “high-risk travel situation.”
Travelers traveling to New York, Los Angeles, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania are being asked to stay home and avoid certain areas.
Those traveling to Georgia and South Carolina are being told to avoid them and the rest of the South.
Those planning to travel to Hawaii and Guam are being warned that travel to the island nation is currently “restricted.”
Residents in Hawaii and South Korea are being advised to take steps to avoid potential emergencies.
Those in Florida, Louisiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, and South Dakota are being urged to stay away from any areas where the flu may be circulating.
The federal government says it is sending about 8,500 National Guard troops to the country, bringing in about 3,500 military personnel, including thousands of uniformed personnel, police officers, medical professionals, military families and other federal employees.
The National Guard is being used to train police officers and other local police, and to help provide health care to local hospitals.
The National Guard has been deployed to Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Ohio and West Virginia.
