Travel agency Near Me, based in London, has been closed for good after receiving death threats over its decision to cancel a planned visit to the US, according to an employee.
According to the employee, the threats were from an unknown group of people who posted on the company’s Facebook page.
“They said that we are not going to do the tour anymore,” said the employee.
“We have received death threat after death threat.”
Near Me’s Facebook post read: “The company is shutting down its business in the US due to the death threats it has received.”
A spokesperson for the company told Business Insider that it was working to “resolve the matter” and would continue to travel in the country.
Near Me, founded in 2002, is a travel agency that offers travel and accommodation services for individuals and groups in the United States and around the world.
The spokesperson added that the company was in the process of shutting down operations in the UK and was looking into the matter further.
