New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered a “significant, temporary” halt of all US travel across the state on Thursday, making the New York City metropolitan area the latest American state to announce its new travel restrictions.
New York Governor Cuomo’s order requires Americans to immediately report any suspected terror attacks to local authorities.
The move comes after President Donald Trump said that he had not yet decided whether to declare a national emergency over the weekend.
New Yorkers will be required to report all suspected terrorist attacks, including the recent bombing in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, on a list of national security issues that are covered by the state’s new emergency declaration.NYGov Cuomo’s action is a major step in the process of ending the Trump administration’s travel ban.
Trump signed the ban on Friday.
